Changing Tradition

We are leaving in less than two hours to join the rest of the family in Surfside, South Carolina for a beachy kind of Thanksgiving. This is something we have never done before and to be honest I am a little apprehensive about it. Maybe it is the thought of breaking tradition or not being able to spend the Holiday with all of our family. It might also be the fact that I was at work til 3:00 and still have not packed for this trip. I think the not being packed part can be a side effect of the above mentioned apprehension. I know once we get there tomorrow morning it will all be worth it and we will thoroughly enjoy our little mini vaca with the family that is able to make it. I just need to breath.

Anthony has the day off and is spending the day finishing up what needs done, doing a little bit of my packing, taking the doggies to where they are staying, and even grabbing what I needed from the grocery store for tomorrow's feasting. He is truly amazing! I am super thankful for him (:

I hope all of you have an amazing Thanksgiving and enjoy your time with your families followed by some shopping on Friday. Be careful traveling and eat to your heart's desire.

Weekend Happenings

It's already Monday and I am not going to lie that when it was time to get out of bed this morning I was more than ready to get this work week started. Not just because it is a 3 day work week filled with a Thanksgiving Feast at the office and then we can begin our mini vaca to South Carolina for Thanksgiving but after taking Friday off due to our water issue in the basement and being pretty much cooped up in the house all weekend I was more than ready to get out of the house.

Saturday we were supposed to go to the Ohio State game however it was shut down pretty quickly when we woke up to freezing rains and a level 3 (so no one on the roads unless you are emergency personnel) Anthony was unaware of this until he left the house to go to Wal Mart and grab a few things for the game and he was on his way home and saw a bunch of wrecks on the interstate. The roads were all backed up and even though the weather advisory was lifted at 11:00 there was no way we would make it Columbus to make the noon game. So we made the decision to watch the game safely from our living room and it just so happened that we had an unopened bottle of wine and the ingredients for nachos, we were good to go!

Saturday night I made a little trip to town and picked up a couple movies at the rental. I ended up getting Neighbors (do not recommend it!) and The Fault in Our Stars. We watched the Neighbors first and I am pretty sure we only laughed maybe twice throughout the whole thing. We were pretty disappointed! I ended up watching The Fault in Our Stars Sunday morning because Anthony really wasn't all that interested. Talk about a tear jerker, I found myself crying through the whole ending of the movie but it was a really good movie.

After the sob fest was over I had some cuddle time with Tyson on the couch while watching some Lifetime Movies. I took Anthony lunch at his work while the guys in the shop put new winter tires on my car. I spent the rest of my evening doing some online Christmas shopping, editing pictures & packing for our trip this week. All in all it was not an eventful weekend by any means but I took that graciously after such an eventful day on Friday.

When it rains....

I am so glad this day is finally over, well close to it anyways. Normally I am thankful that the week is over but this week has not been anything to really complain about, that was until this morning. Anthony woke up a little before 5 a.m. and he heard water running in our basement. He went down to see water spraying all over the place out of our water softener. So he spent half an hour trying to get it to stop but the shut off valve was broken in our basement. I woke up to see what the hell was going on and it was literally a nightmare. I was down there turning a bunch of knobs trying to see if anything would shut off the water flow but nothing was working. Anthony called one of his buddies to see if he knew anything about it and he instructed us on how to turn the water off out by the road (what the City is only able to do), that turned out as an unsuccessful attempt and we went back in the house to try to figure out what to do. Anthony went back down into the basement and was getting ready to try one other thing and all of a sudden another pipe burst right by the valve and even more water came spraying in all over the place (10x as bad as what was going on before with the softener). I finally called the Water Dept because it was getting close to them opening at 7 and luckily they answered and sent someone over to shut it off to the house.
I called off work and we headed to the hardware store for supplies to redo all the pipes in our basement. We ended up working on everything until 1:00 and after 3 trips to the hardware store and one to Culligan for the softener part, which they don't have because ours is so ancient, we finally we able to sit down and sign. It was truly so exhausting!!!
So no more debbie downer news, here are some of my Friday Favorites.

Reading. Yes Please by Amy Poehler.
This is seriously one of the funniest books I have read in a long time. I don't normally read memoirs but Amy always has a way to make people laugh so I figured it would be a really good read, and it is. All I can tell you is go buy it right now and read it for yourself!!! That is all.

Decorating for Christmas.
We decided to put our tree up before Thanksgiving because we are going to be in South Carolina for Thanksgiving and I did not want to come home with the need to rush to get the house decorated. Plus it would be super relaxing and fun to get home from our mini vacation and be able to just plug our tree in and enjoy it.

Cuddle Sessions.
Tyson has been extra cuddly here lately. I think he has an inkling that we are leaving next week and he doesn't get to go with us. He is going to have a blast going to his sister's house. We contacted the breeder and they are going to watch him while we are gone. He is going to have so much fun with all nine of their mastiffs and I am so comfortable with him going there which means no worried Momma about how he is being taken care of.

Cut & Color.
I went and had my hair done last night after work. I told Steph that I wanted something different but didn't want anything drastic with the color. I ended up having her cut 3 inches or more off of it and she weaved heavier blonde throughout. So far I am loving it, but I haven't had a chance to curl it yet so we will see how that goes.

Tomorrow we are kicking off the weekend right by going to the Ohio State game in Columbus. This will be Anthony's first game so we are planning on heading up early so that we can get the whole Buckeye experience. So please excuse me while I go drink another glass of wine to hopefully numb the pain of today away and probably hit the hay before 9:00. Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Weekending

TGMO (Thank God Mondays Over!)
After a pretty eventful weekend, mainly recovering from a late night of dancing and drinking all day Sunday, I was pretty exhausted today. On top of all the fun festivities the time change is not helping in my favor. Even though I slept in on Sunday morning I had the hardest time sleeping last night.
Anyways, Mrs. Complainer McComplainerson signing off here and getting on with this little weekend recap...
Friday: we had our annual trick or treat at Grandma's on Harper Drive. Molly ended up spending the night with Anthony and I. We finished the night off watching Casper the Friendly Ghost.
Saturday: We woke up fairly early, got ready, went to Donald's to get donuts, I ran a couple errands and Molly and Tyson chatted it up in the back seat. After errands we headed to Aunt Lori and Uncle Matt's to surprise them with donuts and to take Molly home.
The biggest surprise of the day was Maddy got her first car! a 2012 Chevy Cruze in the prettiest blue color. It was involved in an accident in the back end so there are some minor repairs that need done but other than that the car is pretty sweet! I cannot believe Maddy is turning 16 in a few short months!!!! Where has the time gone?!
Saturday night: we got all dressed up in our Halloween costumes and headed to Cumberland for the Double Cut Halloween Party. I spent the whole night dancing with my favorite girls and drinking way too many Red's Apple Ales. I definitely paid for it on Sunday!
Sunday: As already mentioned was spent sleeping in, taking two naps and going with my Hubby to get some stuff he still had at his Mom's and then stopping by my parents to show them his new (new to us) car. Anthony ended up trading the Chrysler to a friend for an 01 CRV. It is perfect for him because now he has something to haul all of his fishing and duck hunting stuff in plus his kayak on top compared to the two door convertible we had.

Now if we can just make it through another work week and I will be in for another busy weekend. I have a couple photo sessions planned for Saturday and then I am shooting Anthony's cousin's Ballet Recital on Sunday. So fingers crossed for good weather and smiling faces!!!
